2007 WSB Teams Triumph Again
The "Steiner CMBO Northwood Night Jars", captained by Jason
Guerard, again won first place in the Cape Island Cup category of the
"World Series of Birding" with 156 species identified.
The Youth Team, "The Steiner Merlins", captained by Kiley
Pignataro and mentored by Jim Wilson, also again won Division
"A", (grades 1st - 5th) with 136 species covering the Cape
May County area in the WSB competition.
The Merlin Youth Team from Steiner went on to appear on the Martha
Stewart Show, Friday, May 25, 07, and were warmly received by Martha
and her audience.
According to the two team captains, "A great time was had by all
participants. The weather for the 24 hour event was great, with the
Spring migration in full force. Everyone came home with exciting
stories of sighting many local and migrating birds that Cape May is
famous for in the Spring and Fall migrations, and our Steiner
binoculars worked great", they said. The combined total of all
entered teams totaled a whopping 265 species over the 24-hour New
Jersey event.
Shown here are the two teams with members and company members of
